“Kung-Fu: History, Philosophy and Technique”
“Kung-Fu: History, Philosophy and Technique” is a book written by David Chow and Richard Spangler. The first book I would like to blog about. If there were any book I would recommend on Kung Fu with its history and Philosophy it would be this book. I think it is a great book for people who are interested in Chinese martial arts to read. There is a really informative chapter on History and Philosophy. The book talks about Kung-Fu coming to the western world. There is a chapter on external styles of Kung Fu. This chapter covers some of the well-known styles. Many of the popular styles in the west are mentioned such as Praying Mantis, Monkey, Dragon, White Crane, and more. There is another great section on different Chinese Disciplines with great photos. There is a technique section as well showing various Chin Na Fa techniques. The book was first published in 1977 making it one of the first of its kind to give a detailed over view of the Chinese Martial arts in the west. I am not sure there is a better book to introduce people to Kung Fu. There are other great books out there. But this book is one of my personal favorites that to this day it still remains in my library. If I had to rate the book 1-5 stars, I would give it 5 stars. If interested you can grab a copy from my store while they are still available.
